This is a cake I made for my son’s graduation – the bottom book is red velvet and the top book is a lemon cake. The picture frame is made out of white chocolate painted with food coloring. The “wood” board is actually fondant made to look like wood and the cap is RKT covered in fondant.
I had to drive to Miami with the cake in the trunk of the car because it was too large and heavy to put it on the back seat – we got caught in very heavy traffic and it took us over two hours to get to his house. By then, the heat in the trunk had softened the frame and had made the books droop a little – so I had no choice, but to tell my son that these were USED books! LOL

What a wonderful cake! I’ll bet your son loved it, even with the “used” books!
