I was completley shocked when my Wintery Steampunk Wedding Cake placed 3rd at That Takes the Cake. Originally sketched for a photo collaboration that had to be moved I still wanted to do this cake. So I did. Renshaw Americas fondant covered the base of this cake. Icing Images Flex Frost sheets in copper were stenciled with Creative Cookier pearl sheen and Killer Zebras gears stencils to give it a brocade look. The heart (inspired by jewelry, photo attached) was hand shaped Simi Cakes & Confections Isomalt and adorned with some gear molds (front and back) and hand made fondant wiring. Ruffles (so many ruffles!) Were made with Innovative Sugarworks sugar shapers and I frayed the edges for fun. The gears and snowflake gears were hand cut and then the cake was “frosted” with wafer paper snow.
