In the cake I designed for the collaboration ‘Egypt, Land of Mystery’, I wanted to express the majestic and immortal love between Ancient Egypt’s last Hellenistic Queen Cleopatra the 7th, and the Roman general Marcus Antonius. Although these two powerful somebodies allied in order to conquer the world, before leaving their hopes on the battlefield; they gained the ultimate prize, each other. Therefore, they had their names written in the history books as the ultimate devotees instead of being recalled solely as a great general and a powerful queen.
The many techniques used in this cake were all done by handcrafting, without using any molds. In this design, the following techniques are used; bust, relief, layered relief, painting, optical illusion painting and mosaic. I crafted four different stories with four different techniques in the four sides of my model. Furthermore, I designed a special foot stand in order to ascend my model. I hand painted eight various paintings in the two integrated pieces.
Thank you :)
