My cake is named
Bride in a Pallanquin.
Weddings in india are a huge part of our culture and life.
I have tried to capture the intricate carving and craftsmanship skills of our people through Doli ( pallanquin) .
The pallanquin is Made of fondant using techniques like bas relief and onlay work .
I have tried to depict the
beauty of Indian bridal dress and ornaments . I have also tried to capture her sadness as she leaves the parental home to live with her Husband for ever .
Making the roof of the pallanquin was most challenging !!
It was paper thin , I don’t know how many pieces I broke while Making this curved and transparent structure !
