Lost in Venice

Lost in Venice
Lost in Venice Lost in Venice Lost in Venice

The beauty of Venice has inspired artists, writers and lovers over the centuries and it continues to inspire just as powerfully in modern times.

This three tier cake represents the glamour and jazz of the beautiful city.

The lowest tier, covered in marbled fondant with Bas Relief technique represents the architectural work.

The centre tier represents the colourful costumes of the carnival, a colourful attempt at an optical illusion inspired by an artist work displayed at an art studio.

The top tier represents the city, known for its never ending canals, designed with wafer paper to give a spiral effect of the canals.

The mask is my take on the one at home, with fragile wafer paper quilling technique.

As a cake artist, the Venetian Mask has always intrigued me. So much so that I even have an authentic mask adorning the wall in my living room. I find the mysteriously gorgeous faces and costumes worn during the Venice Carnival very appealing as well.

This glamorous beauty is a part of PDCA Collaboration theme Glamour. It’s a great opportunity being a part of Caker Buddies collaboration.
