“Italian Sugar Dream” is the first collaboration of Sugar Art ever made in Italy and exclusively composed by italian Artists.
For the very first time I have had the honour to host with this amazing collaboration presented by Global Sugar Artists Network
A group of 27 talented exponents of this sweet Art have gathered from all over Italy to entertain your eyes through their masterpieces and celebrate the Italian art, icons, symbols, music, history, trying to portrait the different areas of our Bel Paese. “Italian Sugar Dream” will take you to a journey through the heart and soul of one of the most beautiful Country in the whole world!

I’ve tried to draw inspiration from the great artist Giovanni Arcimboldi, one of the most whimsical in Milan. His work has always fascinated me, especially his talent in taking natural elements and represent them a different way than they usually appear. His portraits of men are a perfect synthesis between human traits and natural elements like fruit, vegetables, flowers and animals. Arcimboldi’s eccentricity at it’s highest expressive level is evident in his human portraits, if viewed in a standard way they appear as paintings of a still life if rotated 180°. Inspired by “The vegetable gardener” that rotated becomes a metal bowl full mostly of vegetables I’ve created my composition titled “km0” and/or “0km”. It is "km0 (zero food miles) " because all vegetables, fruits and flowers are grown in my personal vegetable garden with much love but little water ( to prevent sugar dissolution). Therefore it becomes "0km (walking 0 kilometers) " with no distance required from the work and just looking at it, we have a different perspective of nature : the viewer is deceived by nature and sees a human portrait.
