I made this cake for my sister who lives on a rural property. She wanted something that was elegant but not too over the top to celebrate her 40th birthday. All elements (except the topper) were handmade.

There was also a little surprise in the back.. this little guy :)
My sister is a scientist and spent many years studying marsupials and rats and now works in a lab (lab rat) so wanted to quirky little nod to that on her cake. Took a few of the guests by surprise at the party but it also made the cake that little bit more personal.
