A little backstory to this one. Several months ago, my friend posted that she was going to be the photographer for a vampire themed wedding. I was like, “what? There is a vampire themed wedding and I am not involved yet? My marketing has failed me! I’m the Rock and Roll Cake Diva for crying out loud!” The bride got on the post and said that her friend was doing their wedding cake as a gift, but she said she was a fan of my crazy cakes. OK, I was disappointed but certainly understood.

Fast forward to just a few weeks ago. The groom saw my big Smaug dragon cake and decided he wanted a groom’s cake also. So we met together, where he was very specific in what he wanted for the cake—-a black dragon with his chest glowing red like he’s about to breathe fire, flying over a vampire castle whose walls would bleed when cut. And I was doing the happy dance because I got to be involved in the vampire wedding after all!

So here is the Vampire Dragon grooms cake. The dragon is all edible except for the internal structure and lighting. The chest, neck, and eyes glow red from internal EL lighting. The wings have edible glow in the dark paint lit by tiny black lights. BIG kudos and credit on the dragon goes to the amazing Miguel Guerrero of Mad Mike’s Cakes, who collaborated with me on this project. He is a structure & lighting GURU! GURU I say! He figured out how to make the dragon not only glow from within but the whole glow in the dark wings thing too. And his expertise on modeling is amazing.

The castle is a replica of the Dracula Castle in Romania, and is all Hot Chocolate cake with raspberry filling, and the white chocolate walls bled edible chocolate ‘blood’ when the groom cut it….with a sword. Of course.

Definitely an alternative wedding, but exceedingly cool! Here is a link to the live video on site: Dragon Cake Video
