This 4ft tall cake was created for a bride & groom who are huge Dr. Who & Marvel fans! Their whole wedding- 11/12/16- was themed around their Superheroes, so the cake had to be extra special! As a ‘surprise reveal’ cake, all the action was hidden, until the turntable was activated and slowly turned around to reveal their favourite characters, where the icing was peeled back to show cakes made of Lego blocks. I made a huge structure from MDF (cue, the ‘Bob the Builder’ part of cake making!- I LOVE my power tools!!!😂) – so that all the cutting cakes were on their own little shelves on the ‘elegant’ side of the cake,(which was simply adorned with drapes and sugar flowers) & the Super Hero side had shelving too, but the ‘cakes’ were made from RKT. Only the very top tier was a dummy- just about everything else was edible! As it could only be a one-piece structure,transporting was the scary bit- it weighed an absolute ton (lost count of ingredients’ weight!), but breathed a huge sigh of relief when finally in place -without any damage!!! Phew!!! 😥X
