My design for the ACD Modern Bride Issue. :) My main inspiration behind this design was a gorgeous dress by Bottega Veneta Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear Fashion line.
I used varying shades of cornflower blue food coloring to paint the front stripes of fondant. Metallic copper paint splatter and gold leaf wafer paper sequin bring shimmer and a little modern art flare to the cake. I used vertical ruffles around the base of the cake, tipped with gold to bring in some movement and finished the design with gumpaste orchids also tipped in gold with bright gold centers. A perfect “marriage” of modern and wedding!
