this is my first year with the worldwide sugar artists collaboration of Sugar Skull Bakers, truly an honor to be included in this great project to honor and celebrate the the Dia de los "Muertos.

Frida Kahlo is revered as one of Mexico’s greatest artist, popular for her surrealism and self portraits and a prominent feminist too. In my recent trip to Mexico, I found a lot of of her paintings being reproduced in various commodities from reusable shopping bags to restaurant menu cover, wardrobes and gadgets, name it they have her self portrait represented on it.. Her self portraits are colorful, passionate and honest, also depicting a part of her life and symbols of her motherland. And as I learned more about her , I have found myself awed, inspired, admire and interested by her persona, life and art…This is my Sugar Skull Ode to Frida Kahlo..
