BATLO

BATLO
BATLO BATLO BATLO

Kirsti and Sarah got married last Saturday and they had a very personal request for their Wedding Cake. It went back to my Architect Days so despite not being a standard Wedding Cake, I am happy that it means something to them but also this time for me. They wanted the Cake to take inspiration from Gaudi’s Casa Batlo in Barcelona. As a bit of background, Gaudi is this crazy, organic, irreverent [even these days] full of colour and curves Architect from the beginning of last Century and Casa Batlo is one of his masterpieces with some really particular looking balconies.

As it was a Wedding Cake and they wanted it to be Square and didn’t want white , I suggested a very pale grey which is more atone with rendering over buidlings and I took the irregular and chaotic broken tiles pattern of Gaudi onto the Bottom Tier and the Roof tiles for the top. Perhaps I should have used more colour on the Bottom tier but they want it Blue and Green as main colours.

This is probably the weirdest and more bespoked Cake I have done so far . I hope that together with context everyone can see tru the weirdest design of the middle tier.

Hope you all like!

Another Enrique masterpiece! I love that you included the pictures of the building used as inspiration and, oh yes, your middle tier design makes perfect sense! Beautiful!
