Semi-Naked wedding cake

This was my first “naked cake” and I’m glad the bride opted for the semi-naked version because I kept fighting the instinct to go back over it with more icing. It’s not easy making a cake look elegant and intentionally under-iced. The leaves were made from sugar to represent our beautiful Maine autumn. The leaves looked better in real life. The only light was from behind so I had to use my flash.

Thank you :) I was afraid it wouldn’t look very nice but it came together pretty well. I was relieved she didn’t order a real naked cake with exposed edges and gaps between layers because I would have kept obsessing about things potentially getting into the tiers especially with it being an outdoor wedding under a tent. I could at least relax a bit knowing the edges were sealed.
