I made this Welcome to the World cake for a friend who just had a baby girl. She didn’t want it to be too girly but I managed to sneak in some pink! The balloon is a little wonky I’m still working on my technique for covering different shapes in fondant. The balloon is a polystyrene ball covered in fondant, I used cake pop sticks to hold it up. The basket is made by making long spaghetti like strips from gum paste, twisting two together then wrapping around crisco covered glass jar.
