The mythological Vesna were female characters that represented and were associated with youth and Springtime in Slavik mythology, particularly in Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia. The word “vesna” is still the poetic word for Spring in the Slovene and Slovak languages. Vesna was a very popular goddess among people because she replaced the cold embrace of Winter.
