My entry into Cake International London, Alexandra Palace 2016!

I received a merit for my entry and got to speak to the head judge for the wedding cake category. He gave me some great feedback on my cake and improvements I need to make. I was pleased to get a Merit but I will take his advice and apply it to next years entry, after all he is the expert and I agreed entirely with his points.
On my cake I used 24ct edible gold leaf, I applied this to wafer paper to create a mosaic effect however I underestimated how much gold I would need so I wasn’t able to create the effect I wanted too. The base tier is a double ruffled petal shaped dummy and the same technique was used for the sphere top tier.
All in all it took me around 40 hours to create this cake however I did have a play around during this time.
