This was my contribution to the SugarArt4Autism collaboration. My inspiration was an early painting by M Shortt, an artist on the spectrum, titled ‘The Joy of Solitude’. I was attracted both by the image and the title, many people seem to think that solitude assumes loneliness but this is not the case at all. I painted the image onto rough royal icing for texture and added heather as the floral element to the top as this is the plant that symbolises solitude. I hope you enjoy my efforts.
