Nigerian Mask Cake

The Nigerian Mask cake by an Indian Cake artist!
Having spent most of my childhood in Africa, The people, the place, their art, music, food, has greatly influenced me! When you are in Nigeria, there is a pulsating energy of celebration! People are friendly and enthusiastic!
I have always been interested in ART but the masks of Africa is something that has particularly intrigued me!
The masks usually have a spiritual and religious meaning and they are used in ritual dances and social and religious events. African masks come in all different colours, Made of different materials, wood, brass copper, cowry shells, jute, beads etc! Now they have been commercialized for various craft forms!
I have had a huge urge to dedicate a cake to this wonderful country Nigeria! The place the people that have greatly inspired me and made me the person I am!
Having spent most of my childhood in Lagos, I decided to make a Yoruba King mask. The intricate beads(sugar balls) and inlaid brass design( gold painted fondant) pattern gives this tribal mask a beautiful accent and a bold look! The magic of the cake is that when you cut it open (DEEP BREATH) there is a colourful rainbow cake which I chose to symbolize the beautiful colourful personality of the Nigerian people!
