Earlier this year I decide I wanted to do a birthday cake for one of my brother’s for his 70th birthday. As I was tossing around ideas, I was thinking of doing something like a golf or skiing cake since he loved to do both. Somehow it didn’t seem special enough. Then I was looking at a painting he had done for me many years ago and it hit me. What could be more special then a cake with miniature replicas of his paintings. To be honest, I didn’t think I could pull it off since I’ve haven’t painted anything but I am so happy with how it turned out. His expression and awe was priceless. He couldn’t even cut the cake. As I was cutting, he was concerned about the paintings telling me to be careful. He wins for best reaction EVER to one of my cakes. The last pic is a collage of 3 of his paintings to give you an idea of what I was going for.

Wow, Goreti – what a special cake for your brother. Love it and isn’t it the best to get a great reaction?!

HE is my rock and my strong tower

Love…Love everything about this cake Goreti!! Figure of your brother, the couch & his beloved pet are terrific…but the paintings you replicated are just fantastic. I’m not surprised with his reaction and that he didn’t want to cut his cake..
Just a wonderful from top to bottom!!!
Guessing he’s keeping the painting miniatures…

Thank you. His wife & kids ended up throwing a surprise party for his yesterday and it was wonderful to have the family all together. Too bad one of my brothers was missing but he spends part of the year in Sao Miguel, Acores and was not in the US at this time.

Oh yes June, he is keeping the painting miniatures.

Lovely cake!! You did an amazing job with the modelling of the cake topper and the little paintings. No wonder your brother could not cut into it!!!!
