‘Be My Valentine! Movie Nights’ is an international collaboration of 45 talented Cake and Sugar artists.
We celebrate Valentine’s day through our favorite movies, showing how being in love can bring joy, happiness, or the opposite sorrow, sadness, how love can betray, how love can make you do crazy things you never imagined whether is a good or a bad thing.

The day brings back memories of red heart, sweet hearts, sweets and sweet nothings. A day to celebrate love – just a bit more than the other days. Some express their emotions through chocolates, some through lovely flowers.. Me, I love the movies.
Love them for the beautiful poem they paint on the silver screen, love them for the dazzling stars who shimmer and sashay their way into our hearts and for the sheer magnificence of the art form that is a movie.
And that’s why my movie fan heart beat the rhythm of a love song when I read the invite from Hajnelka Mayor to join the ‘Be My Valentine! Movie Nights’ a collaboration of some of the most talented cake sculptors in the world. Thrilled? You bet I was.
This collaboration is based on movies and the characters that epitomized romance in them. The idea is to showcase the various moods and feels of that crazy feeling called love. A celebration of movies and unforgettable characters through the best way we can. Through our sweet creations.
Did you know that India churns out the maximum number of movies in the world ? An astounding 1500 plus movies in a year. Imagine my plight to choose from tens of thousands of characters across decades of Indian cinema.
The decision was arrived after much deliberation but was a good choice as any for the collaboration. ‘JODHAA AKBAR’ is a beautiful love story between Akbar, a Mughal Emperor and Jodhaa, a Rajput princess. The cast was made up of two of the most beautiful people I have seen on screen – Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film, set in the backdrop of 16th century India is colorful, lively and filled with passion which oozes off the screen with the fiery chemistry of the lead actors.
Presenting my entry for the collaboration born off my utter fascination for the imperiously romantic movie. Depicted on the sculpture are two of the most intense scenes from the epic movie where a fight between the two characters shower sparks of passion right down to the viewer and the other where two beautiful minds dream the dreams lovers dream of in a lover’s embrace.
