Rustic Royal Icing

Rustic Royal Icing

This was a marzipan and icing order on cakes which they had baked themselves. This was so lovely to do. The bride and groom were marrying in a beautiful rustic village in France and wanted this specific style of rough icing in ivory colour. They were providing their own decorations (silk and real) on the cake and I supplied the ribbon.

They drove it from UK and assembled it at the venue themselves.

I prepared and iced the cakes flat in the normal way and then applied the rustic finish as the third coat. They did not want it to be ‘chunky-looking’ swirls. They were thrilled to bits and sent me this lovely picture which was taken by the Dordogne wedding photographer Michael Mann. It was quite a small jpg so I hope it isn’t too blurry!

Here are a couple of pics I took before they collected them.

The bride had the same flowers round her head. Drop dead gorgeous!!
