Crafting is such an integral tradition of Christmas as part of gift giving and decorations in the home and outside. I focused on a few designs which I thought were significant to the spirit of crafting.

I created the top tier with a cross stitch design of reindeers and Christmas trees, all handpiped with royal icing. A cross stitcher myself, I like how people would make Christmas mittens, coasters, even little potpourri bags with cross stitch as it makes the present more personal and handmade.

The middle tier reminds me of the amount of creativity and craftwork when it comes to making your own Christmas wreaths. I have gone with a Scandinavian inspired wreath with ribbons, pine cones, white wafer paper spruce adorned with a sugar poinsettia. Wreaths hung at the front door of homes make them very individual. They are decorative statements people often admire at the front doors of homes.

Paper craft is boundless and the infinite design possibilities gets many people into the spirit, whether it is making paper ornaments or greeting cards. The snowflake papel picado design came to me when I saw a greeting card and I knew this would be the perfect element to my theme of crafting. I included spacers between each tier covered with pearl dust and glitter squares to resemble snow, as I wanted a wholesome design that not only showcases this very important theme of Christmas, but to evoke a sense of white Christmas and celebration in the snow and of the stunning Scandinavian regions of the world
