50th Birthday Beach Party

I created this cake to celebrate my husband’s 50th with family & friends at the beach. We had a six hour drive (in pouring rain!) and then a two-day wait before the actual party! Four layers, alternating mocha and vanilla, with 3 fillings: Nutella, caramel and marshmallow, encased in dark chocolate ganache with fondant decorations. I propped the waves with toothpicks and left them until the morning of the party (it looked like a porcupine), then added the whitecaps and sand. (The sand was cinnamon graham crackers, ground, with brown sugar.) The shells were my first attempt at filled chocolates, white chocolate with Nutella.

The cake lasted and traveled well, thank goodness! TFL!
