I was honoured to be asked into this collaboration. Thank you Michele Robinson…The Spotty Cake Tin for asking me. She did an amazing job setting up this collaboration. This was dear to my heart, as when I was a psw, I took care of many patients like Josh.
Each Artist was nominated a Super hero – Mine was The Human Torch. I decided to create something a little out of the box…and this is what I came up with.
The hand is made of rct’s, covered in modeling chocolate and then red fondant. Contouring and colouring done with black artists chalk and brushes. Flames from the fingers are melted red suckers, with piping gel on the tips..piping gel flames also in the palm and around the hand. The face is made from red gumpaste using a homemade mold, surrounded by a combination of gumpaste, royal icing and piping gel flames. Cake board is gumpaste to resemble a cobblestone street.
