Baby Elephant 1st Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a pretty cake for a colleague’s daughter’s 1st birthday.

That was the entire brief, and everytime I ran any ideas past my colleague he just said to do whatever I felt like, so I opted to make a baby elephant as it is something I had wanted to try for a while.

When I took the cake into work, I was a bit worried as it was being passed around the warehouse so everyone could see.

My colleague later told me that his wife had cried when she saw the cake. She hadn’t known how I was decorating it, and was just expecting a basic cake with ‘Happy 1st Birthday’ written on, and was absolutely thrilled with the baby elephant and the alphabet blocks.
