Storm the Sky is an up and coming young Aussie band. The lead guitarist was turning 21 and his Dad wanted to surprise him with a cake. He asked me to make the cake like the van they tour around in and have Lachlan and his girlfriend Whitney sitting on the Orange brand amplifiers they use at their gigs. He wanted figurines of each with Lachlan on his favourite guitar singing a song. Whitney sits there dreamily listening to her man singing. I made the amps from polystyrene blocks so they could keep them. I dressed each figurine in their favourite clothes and recreated the van exactly with all hand painted signage. This cake was quite large so all had to be in proportion, the figurines were 7" high. This was a lot of work…but I was pleased with the result and so were they!
