This latest cake posed quite a construction challenge! The brief was to re-create elements of the birthday girl’s beloved garden, including the beautiful arbour, but the client then had to transport it to the venue 60 miles away! It had to be secure enough to survive the journey so it was made on a separate cake board as a topper which was then attached at the venue.

All the decoration is edible (lots of flower paste and royal icing!) apart from the wooden dowel posts and the cotton clematis stamen. The sugar feature flower is a clematis which is the same as the one in the garden.

It was to be served as dessert at the birthday dinner party so I suggested a white chocolate cake filled with coconut & lime buttercream so that it would compliment the oriental main course dishes.
