Copper Couture Wedding Cake Copper Couture Wedding Cake

Copper Couture Wedding Cake designed for DIY Weddings Magazine Fall Issue. When I was asked by Candace of Beau Petit Cupcakes way back in April if I wanted to design a cake for the fall issue, I jumped at the chance! Even though it was barely breaking into spring, I channeled my favorite fall season to design this cake!
I adore metallics, but wanted to do something different than the gold and silver I have used in the past. I decided to use copper which has such a beautiful, fall, earthy tone already and mix it with a bit of silver for a mixed metallic sheen. A full tier of the mixed metallic and again on the gumpaste leaves and center of the statement flower. Since the copper was edgy and a little industrial, I wanted to soften the cake with a fabric effect. I intertwined gathered ruffles embellished with sugar pearls and made free hanging strands of sugar pearls for a necklace detail. I think the result is a romantic cake with a little bit of funky couture mixed in! ;) Thank you so much to DIY Weddings Magazine and Candace Chand for asking me to be a part of this beautiful fall issue!

I’ve been saved, I’ve been changed, I have been set free! www.facebook.com/sbcakedesign
