This Birthday cake was was made for a retired pilot whose nickname is ‘Biggles’ so the theme was an obvious choice for him. The aeroplane was loosely modelled on a Hawker Hurricane which Biggles apparently flew during World War II. It ‘flew’ above the cake on an 8" dowel, bolstered by a few sugarpaste clouds for stability.
