Peonies, roses & kermit mums
I think I’m still trying to catch up on sleep after making this cake ~ we were moving to a new house AND I made the catastrophic mistake of getting my 15 month old daughter a puppy, all during the week it was due… so I had to pull all nighters every night for about a week straight to get it done :)
Loved working with the bride on this cake though! When she first requested an orange & pink cake, I inwardly cringed… but she was right, the colors all came together. Much thanks to Jacqueline Butler’s flower tutorial on Craftsy, which I watched in preparation for this cake ~ I thought I know how to make gum paste flowers already, but I learned SO much from her.
I usually don’t brag about cake flavors either, but with this cake, the inside was just as fun as the outside ~ tequila lime cake with strawberry margarita filling (created using a jar of the bride’s own homemade strawberry jam) and a chocolate cake brushed with amaretto liquor filled with chocolate ganache & amaretto soaked cherries. That was some fun cake & filling tasting :)
