I created this cake for my latest Craftsy class, “Elegant Techniques”. I show how to create lots of elegant textures including this rolled quilted applique texture and the concrete texture. It was such a fun class to put together and a fun cake to make! I love mixing the modern with traditional textures. The wafer flower was a mis-step for me. I printed the gray on an edible printer and made the flower right away. The longer the flower set out, the more it curled up! :( I was so sad. I realized I needed to put the paper in a book for a day or two so it could dry flat, THEN cut out the petals! Lesson learned…like most every other cake!! Haha!!
