A collaboration of food artists from around the world have debuted a sweet and magical collection of edible art in celebration of world-renowned author, J.K. Rowling. The collaborative event can be found online at www.birthdaymischief.com and several social media outlets.

Inspiration, Herbology Studies
My character Michaeleas Cuuragusta is famed for her creative endeavors inn Herbology. What better way to pay tribute to J.K. than to let my imagination create a new species of Wizarding plant given as a birthday gift.

I really wanted to title my creation with etymology in mind. I researched various phrases derived from Latin and Greek; I even tried contacting a botanist! The seeds “Placentam Ramus” translate to Cake Branch. Once the seeds are planted and the spell Augamenti is cast, the branch grows before the recipients eyes and blooms a cupcake that burns a blue flame.

The planter and soil are cake (Double fudge cake with caramel macchiato filling).

The plant, flowers, vines, leaves are isomalt cast, pulled, then hand-painted.

The seeds are isomalt and their packet is wafer paper with a hand-painted description. The orange braided rope is a support ribbon for multiple sclerosis, in memory of Joanne’s mother. The plant Marker signifies my House HUFFLEPUFF!

Thank you for looking I really hope you enjoy it. I solemnly swear…Birthday Mischief Managed.
