My sister turned 30 over the weekend, and she trusted me with free reign on the design of her cake! She only gave me a general theme, which, to my delight, was Japanese…

The bottom tier was inspired by the rich colours and textures of a traditional Kimono. The top tier was inspired by a photo I found of a ring engraved with this typically Japanese design. And did you know that the peony is native to Japan?
