’Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, LOVE gives us a fairytale … ’

This was my first attempt at a stemmed rose, and I decided it needed a little love letter to go with it, hence the painted quote (I over-painted a fondant print of the wording as I’m rubbish at calligraphy !)

It was made as a surprise from a gent to his beauty on her birthday and I had wonderful feedback from her (even if it DID take her hours to pluck up the courage to actually cut it and eat it – isn’t that lovely when that happens ? :D ). It was a 10" dark choc mud cake filled with white choc truffle and undercoated in ganache. The painting was done using my usual go-to Sugarflair Midnight Black/Black dusts and vodka (and gosh I was tempted to have the odd slurp whilst working, it was a tricky and sometimes frustrating one this ;) ) Needless to say, I DID stay sober throughout the making, and no walls or windows were harmed in the process :D
