Victorian Gothic in Bloom

Friends approached me for their Wedding Cake and it turn out to be a special one as one side is a fan of Victorian Gothic Architecture and the other side of Gardening and especially Roses and Peonies. They wanted something to combine both things but also tall, very tall. I tried pitching the WHOLE black cake with the flowers at the top but they didn’t want a Black cake [I still think an all black cake would have look stunning] and they didn’t want white either so they went for Burgundy/Deep Grey. I also didn’t want the cake to look like an Architectural Model either, not all of it and that’s why I painted details in the Bottom Tier and played with floating Victorian Gothic rosettes and arches all finished with an explosion of colour in the form of different types of roses [open roses, garden roses, david austin roses, small rose buds , small roses, semi closed peonies and there is even a ranuculus hidden in there with plenty of green leaves to reinforce the flowers colours.
