Mine and Mom’s contribution for the May Issue of Cake Masters Magazine. It takes a lot to make around 200 sugar orchids!

A bit about the cake: " Moths In Flight
( Phaelanopsis Orchid/ Moth Orchid)

The main inspirations for this cake are the movement and life moth orchids take on when they are grouped and compacted closely together. They very much resemble moths in flight, something from which their name is derived. With the dozens of hand painted moth orchids encircling the cake in exaggerated spirals, this whimsical element dances across and off the structured cake tiers. The bell shaped tiers with beveled feet take a note from the orchid’s grace, while the blue background allows the orchids to spring forward." Gorgeous photos by the ever fabulous Natasha Raichel Photography. And as always thank you to my fantastic mother for making these with me!
