So VERY excited to share with you all my contribution to the “Sugar Myths and Fantasies” cake collaboration. A group of over 50 sugar artists were invited to create edible art using myths and fantasies as inspiration. It is just absolutely amazing the works that have come out of this collaboration. My piece is called: Melusine. Melusine is based on European folklore and is a spirit of fresh water. She is half human/half serpent and often depicted with wings. Not only is Melusine edible art complete with handpainted face using cocoa butter and food color, she is also a working water fountain. The modeling chocolate serpent spouts fresh water as a nod to Melusine being a river nymph.
