j'adore Dior

j'adore Dior

I was very excited to recently create a dessert table for a “Dior Inspired” Bridal shoot. I used cake dummies for the wedding cake so I could make it well in advance allowing time to experiment and get it just how I wanted.

The base is covered in edible gelatine sequins which I made from scratch and attached with edible sugar glue.

The flowers are also made from sugar. They were suppose to be Peony roses but they kind of took on a look of their own.

To cover the hourglass dummy I rolled out long sausages of sugar paste/fondant, wrapped them around and worked my way up. Once dry I gave it a few coats of edible gold lustre mixed with clear alcohol.

I topped it off with a couple of ostrich feathers. Obviously real feathers and real cake are a no no, so if I were to recreate this cake with real cake I would use fake feathers.
