Graduation / 50th birthday mash-up cake

My customer wanted to surprise her mum for 2 special occasions she was celebrating, her 50th burthday and her graduation of her bachelors degree. This was not an easy thing but luckily for me my client had the idea of a mash up and “voula” this is what we came up with. I got the names of some of the books she had studied so made sure to incorporate them plus her daughter wanted to add some fun over the hill stuff so I went with dentures, depends, lady viagra, etc . The cap was made from gumpaste but did not fit the cake exactly as it should have so I did end up having to cut some of the book back to fit it which was a little unfortunate. Overall I was very happy with the way it turned out.
