A Filigree Easter - A Painted Easter Collaboration Cake

This is my contribution to the “A Painted Easter” collaboration. Beginning from a design found in a tutorial by Dawn Parrot, intricate filigree panels with Easter egg shaped peekaboo windows surround a simple round cake. The front panel frames a hand-painted plaque, displaying a cute girl bunny, balancing on a tipped Easter basket and juggling eggs – and chicks??

“A Painted Easter” brought together 54 sugar artists from around the world, and challenged them to create edible pieces that incorporated hand-painting. Almost all of the artists were very outside their comfort zone, but rose to the challenge, resulting in some amazing pieces of sugar art. In addition, each piece hides at least one Easter egg, allowing the viewer to join in on a virtual Easter egg hunt. Can you find all the eggs?

One of my faves Becca! I can’t even imagine the work that went into all that piping. You must have had some serious cramping! It turned out amazing!

I’m so glad you like it, Mel. Honestly, despite the over 13 hours of piping, my hands never hurt at all. My eyes, though… I thought I would go blind
