this is the cake I made for my own birthday, I have always wanted to make a hippo (I love them and have a house full of ornaments etc) and figured I may as well make it for myself.
It was my intention originally to make it a lot more elaborate – 3d, standing, open mouth with a cake in it, bird on its back….. but after working 36 hours in a row I just didn’t have the energy (or the time before the guests arrived) I managed to knock her out in about an hour.
