I made this cake for the 1st birthday of a friends daughter. I was given a brief of owls but then left to my own devises! I decided to use it as an opportunity to try something new and chose patchwork!

I wanted the cake to be pretty and girly (and pink!) but a bit unusual too. I chose to contrast the pink with bright orange which Is one of my favourite colour combinations! I added the pretty buttons to the top tier and scattered in a few edible sequins to add a touch of sparkle!
