Piped chocolate henna cookies

Hi all,

This is the second set of cookies I made for the Go Bo bakesale, this time using melted chocolate/ candy to pipe henna designs. This one was a bit of a learning curve. The consistency of the melts, the fact they set up quick and have to be reheated and the piping properties all make chocolate much more of a pain to work with than royal icing. These took considerably longer than RI designs would have, but by the end I’d somewhat streamlined the process with a few tricks I’d figured out. I hadn’t seen anyone else using pure melted chocolate/ candy in this way as opposed to chocolate flavoured icing, so it’s good to know it can be done, albeit in a more fiddly way!

thanks for looking,
Sawsen

So Pretty Sawsen. I’ve piped with chocolate..I use to pop the metal tip off and nuke the bag for like 10 sec. Haven’t piped with it for quite a while.

Oh great to know June… I avoided metal just in case I wanted to microwave it, but ended up not doing that in the end anyway. The consistency of melts is harder to work with than coverture I think, but reheating means I would lose the temper… Think I need to play a bit more :)
