Inspired by a vintage circus poster, this Wire Dancer was made for the New Zealand Cake Decorators Guild yearly competition, which this year was Circus themed. I placed 3rd in the Novelty section.

Scuplting was done with modeling chocolate and then hand painted. The dress and shoes are both fondant. I used gelatin for her dancing ribbon, the back section of the wire (to give it a thin, distant look like the circus scene in the back), and the lace on the bodice.
