I loved the idea of all the pencils around the cake (there’s a tutorial in Pretty Witty Cakes magazine), but what I didn’t realise – was just how long those little guys would take to make. The children were amazed by the edilble pencils though so it was worth the effort. I wanted the writing to look like black board writing, so opted for painting it on and the train at the top is made from rice crispy treats covered in ganache and fondant :-)
