A really fun cake to make for an extremely bright young man who achieved a Starred First (with Distinction) in Linguistics at Cambridge (Sidney Sussex). I moved away from the traditional style of graduation cake and instead focused on his first love, photography and his beloved 1950s Leica camera and Backpacker bag.

The writing on the board is representative of his graduation subject and includes an excerpt from his dissertation.

The cake bag is dairy free Lemon Madeira cake and the sugar camera that accompanied it is based on a model of his own. I worked from photographs which the family sent to me. Below is a photo of the real camera and bag alongside the edible versions!

I am posting the completed sugarpaste Leica in a separate album which is now separately mounted on a new board as a momento of the occasion.
