Have you heard of the board game Settlers of Catan? This cake is my edible representation of it :) I baked a hexagon shaped cake and roughly iced it with a blue cinnamon buttercream to represent the water/waves around the island. The “Longest Road” plaque, stack of cards, and each of the hexagon tiles are gum paste and were hand painted with luster dusts and vodka. The smaller round number tiles are also gum paste, but I wrote on them with a food marker. The dice, settlements, cities, and roads are white modeling chocolate. The final detail is the beautiful wood grain cake board which was made following instruction found in the Craftsy class “Small Cakes, Big Business.”

Never heard of the game but what a fantastic idea for a cake. Bet the birthday boy loved it.
