This is a chocolate cake made with a 6” round cake pan, one layer, and half of the Wilton Ball pan set. The cake is iced with chocolate icing as a filling and on the outside of the cake, then covered with red fondant that has been mixed with a bit of black to intensify the color. I used a strip of rhinestone trim to go around the base of the cake, and modeling chocolate for the burgundy leaves. The ribbon rose was made with a black fondant and then dusted with a gray shimmer petal dust. The stand was made by cutting a round piece of plywood in a 6” circle and then covered with cake foil paper, and my husband made a thick circle of wood that is screwed right onto the 6 ” wooden circle and his thick ‘plug’ of wood fits right inside the candle stand and holds the cake perfectly.
