Here Comes The Bride With Her Runaway Groom?

At first glance of this pretty Indian bride decked out in her ruby encrusted gold jewellery and her purple and teal green saree trimmed with gold embroidery, you see her demure expression as she smiles shyly and leans towards the groom for security and safety. But then you notice her hand holding tightly to the lapel of his suit and you realise that she is trying to prevent him from running away and leaving her at the altar. Why, she is not as shy as she seems but is quite a bold lady! Looks can be deceiving! As for the groom, his expression seems to say ‘Alright! You have caught me hook, line and sinker so let’s get this over with!’. Not that he was going to run away anyway as he really loves his pretty bride and she looks so beautiful in her bridal attire!

The above story is a work of fiction and was created from Polly’s wild imagination!

The above bride and groom sugar figurines were comissioned by my client as the toppers for a three tiered wedding cake for her brother’s wedding dinner this coming weekend. She requested for the groom (dressed in a suit) to be ‘about to run away’ and the bride (dressed in a green and purple saree with gold trim, pic provided by client) ‘reaching out to catch him’. The original design for the figurines was as this pic.

However, half way through making the bride figurine, I abandoned the project as I didnt think it would look nice for the bride’s and groom’s faces to not face the front of the cake and decided on making Carlos Lischetti’s contemporary style bride and groom figurines (from his book “Animation In Sugar”) with a twist! Fingers crossed that the client and the wedding couple will like it too!

And yes! I am Polly! Thanks for looking and reading my story! :) xxx
