Chinese Romance in Spring

Chinese Romance in Spring

A Chinese inspired spring wedding cake that I made for the Cake, Bake & Sweets show in Sydney March 2014. Peonies and blossoms are signature flora in Chinese weddings, so I have designed some peonies here to match the size of the cake. The blossoms were created in a cascading fashion on the bottom tier, which looks very romantic. I’ve also created some blossoms built onto branches made from modelling chocolate.

The plaque means “double happiness”, which is very common in Chinese weddings as it symbolises the union of the wedded couple.

I’ve decided to go traditional with the figurines, by giving them the traditional Chinese wedding costumes worn by couples not only back in the day, but in this contemporary era with modern embellishments with the bride’s outfit.
